The best oil-filled radiator in Canada is the DREO DR-HSH010 ($159.99). It is the only one here with a remote. It also has the longest safety list. The catch is a 12-month warranty and just two Canadian reviews. For a proven pick, try the De'Longhi Radia S at $127.30. It has a 3-year warranty, and 21 Canadian reviews average 4.67 stars.
Prices run from $99.99 to $223.93. An oil-filled radiator heats slowly and silently, so it suits a bedroom or small room. If you need heat in minutes, a ceramic space heater is the faster tool. For a damp basement, add a dehumidifier as well.

DREO Oil Filled Radiator Heater, 1500W, Remote & Digital Thermostat (DR-HSH010)
The DREO DR-HSH010 leads on features. It has a remote, a touch panel, a 5–35 °C digital thermostat, a 24-hour timer and a mute mode. Overheat and tip-over protection, a child lock and a burn-proof plug come standard. Only two Canadian reviews exist so far, and the warranty is 12 months. If you want 3 years of cover, take the De'Longhi Radia S TRRS0715CA at $127.30.
ProductHunter.ca compared 8 oil-filled radiators sold on Amazon.ca. We checked each listing for room size, controls, safety and warranty. We also read the latest 100 Canadian verified reviews for each one. A radiator with few reviews earned less credit. So did one with no clean Amazon.ca offer.

Detailed Reviews
DREO Oil Filled Radiator Heater, 1500W, Remote & Digital Thermostat (DR-HSH010)

The DREO DR-HSH010 is the most complete oil-filled radiator here. It adds a remote and a touch panel to a digital thermostat, so you can adjust it from bed. Mute and screen-off modes suit a bedroom. It is rated for about 107 to 215 square feet. The weak spot is proof. Only two Canadian buyers have reviewed it, so long-term reliability is unknown.

PELONIS Basic Electric Oil Filled Radiator, 1500W (PHO15A2AGW)

The PELONIS is cheap, sold by Amazon.ca and widely bought, with 8,040 ratings. Recent Canadian owners are the least happy in this group. The latest 100 reviews average 3.70 stars, and 28% are 1 or 2 star. They report weak heat, units dying within months and oil leaks. The warranty is only one year. The low price does not make up for that record.

How We Compared
Every radiator here draws 1500 W at 120 V, so the table compares what differs: room size, controls and warranty. Coverage figures come from each Amazon.ca listing.

What Canadian Owners Complain About Most
These eight radiators look alike on paper. All are 1500 W at 120 V. The Canadian reviews are where they differ. We analysed the latest 100 verified Canadian reviews for each unit that had them. Four problems keep coming up:
- Clicking. Loud thermostat clicking is the top complaint on the Radia S and Dragon units.
- Damage and leaks. Oil leaks and boxes that arrive damaged show up on both Dragons, the Radia S ECA and the PELONIS.
- Weak heat. Owners say the Radia S, black Dragon and PELONIS warm only the area near the unit in big rooms.
- Early failure. PELONIS owners report units dying within months. One Radia S failed after two winters.
A soft tick as the thermostat switches is normal, because the metal expands and contracts. A sharp, frequent clatter from the first night is a reason to return the unit.
The star counts back this up. The PELONIS averages 3.70 stars in its latest 100 Canadian reviews, and 28% are 1 or 2 star. The Radia S ECA scores 3.99 with 22% negative. The black Dragon scores 3.98 with 21%. The white Dragon scores 4.01 with 17%. Only the Radia S TRRS0715CA looks strong, at 4.67 across 21 reviews. That base is small and new. Call it promising, not proven.
The DREO has the opposite problem. Only two Canadian verified reviews turned up in the 100 most recent, and both gave five stars. The rest came from other countries. That is not bad news, but it means nobody can confirm its Canadian reliability yet.
What an Oil-Filled Radiator Costs to Run in Canada
At full power a 1500 W radiator uses 1.5 kWh each hour the element is on. Electricity rates vary by province. These are example rates, not a Canada-wide average.
| Rate per kWh | Full power, per hour | 8-hour night at half duty | 30 nights |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10¢ | 15¢ | $0.60 | $18 |
| 15¢ | 22.5¢ | $0.90 | $27 |
| 20¢ | 30¢ | $1.20 | $36 |
Half duty means the thermostat keeps the element on for half the night. That is a fair guess for a closed bedroom in mild cold. In a drafty room the element runs more.
An oil-filled radiator does not use less power than other plug-in heaters. It keeps radiating after the element switches off, so the heat feels steadier and less dry. A ceramic space heater gives the same 1500 W as heat that arrives sooner but stops sooner.
Watch the seller, not just the price. The De'Longhi TRD40615T is $223.93 from Amazon.ca. Third-party sellers list it for $175.74 to $183.00. That saving looks big. But one Canadian owner says De'Longhi refused warranty service on a unit bought new.
Who Should Not Buy an Oil-Filled Radiator
These radiators are slow and gentle by design. Skip them if any of these fit you:
- You heat a large room. Listings rate 110 to 250 sq ft. Owners of bigger rooms say it barely warms them.
- You want heat in minutes. Expect a long warm-up. A space heater is quicker.
- You need an extension cord. A 1500 W unit draws 12.5 A of a 15 A circuit. Plug it into the wall.
- You are lifting it up stairs often. The Dragon weighs 12.1 kg, and the lightest here, the PELONIS, is 7.6 kg.
For a small bedroom, home office or nursery, an oil-filled radiator is still a quiet, gentle way to take the chill off. A closed door and a clear metre around it matter more than the model. Worried about air quality in a sealed room? An air purifier covers that.
How We Research & Rank
| Criterion | Weight | Based On |
|---|---|---|
| Heating Performance & Coverage | 25 | Rated room size, fin design, radiant surface, power steps and thermostat type. All eight draw 1500 W, so how the heat is delivered decides the score. |
| Safety & Certification | 20 | Stated overheat and tip-over protection, child lock, flame-resistant parts and a named certification mark. A mark that is not stated scores lower than one that is. |
| Controls & Convenience | 15 | Digital thermostat, display, timer, remote, ECO mode and quiet-use features such as mute. A knob scores below a digital panel. |
| Build, Warranty & Value | 20 | Warranty length and who sells it, steel build, sealed oil reservoir, and price. A listing with no Amazon.ca offer loses points. |
| Owner Satisfaction | 20 | The latest 100 Canadian verified reviews, recurring defects, the recent trend and service signals. Thin review counts are pulled toward the field average. |
Scores are out of 10. Owner Satisfaction absorbs all review evidence, so the other four criteria are judged on the listing alone.
Need heat in minutes, not an hour?
An oil-filled radiator is slow by design. A ceramic or infrared space heater warms a room sooner. See which picks are certified and which are flagged.
See the Best Space HeatersFrequently Asked Questions
The De'Longhi Radia S TRRS0715CA at $127.30. It carries a 3-year manufacturer warranty, which no cheaper pick here matches. Its 21 Canadian reviews average 4.67 stars, with one 1-star about faulty wiring. It has three power levels, an adjustable thermostat and a 2-hour timer, and Amazon.ca sells and ships it.
At 15¢ per kWh, a 1500 W radiator costs about 22.5¢ for each hour the element is on. A thermostat cycles the element, so a closed bedroom may use half that. An 8-hour night at half duty is about 90¢, or roughly $27 over 30 nights. Your own rate decides the real figure.
The metal body and thermostat expand and contract as the unit heats and cools. A soft click when the thermostat switches is normal. Loud, repeated clicking was the most common complaint in the Canadian reviews we analysed, on the Radia S and Dragon units especially. If it is sharp and frequent from day one, ask for a replacement.
Not well. The listings here rate 110 to 250 sq ft, which suits a bedroom or office with the door closed. Canadian owners of larger rooms say the heat barely reaches past the unit. For quicker heat in a bigger space, look at a space heater rated for more floor area.
Take the DREO DR-HSH010 for the remote, the digital thermostat and the longer safety list. Take the De'Longhi Radia S for a 3-year warranty against the DREO's 12 months, plus far more Canadian reviews. The DREO has just two, so its reliability is unproven. The Radia S is the safer bet if the warranty matters most.
