The best cordless vacuum in Canada is the Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty (IA3243), at $549.99 from Amazon.ca. Its dock empties the bin for you and holds up to 45 days of dirt. It also senses dirt and carpet, and turns up the power on its own. On a budget, the coovy SU7 Ultra ($152.99) has the biggest bin here and a battery you can swap.

Prices run from $152.99 to $999.99. This page covers cordless stick vacuums that you push. If you would rather the floors got done without you, see our best robot vacuums instead. For liquid spills, see our portable carpet cleaners guide. For damp basements, pair floor cleaning with a basement dehumidifier.

Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty IA3243

$549.99on Amazon.ca

The IA3243 removes the worst part of owning a stick vac: tipping a small, dusty bin into the garbage. Its dock does that after every clean and seals the dust away. PowerDetect boosts suction when it finds dirt or carpet, and the brushroll cleans itself of hair. It is sold by Amazon.ca. The catch is that it is new, with only 9 Canadian reviews so far.

ProductHunter.ca compared 12 cordless stick vacuums sold on Amazon.ca. We scored each one on its specs: the floor head, the runtime with that head on, the dock and tools, and the price and seller. Then we read up to 60 recent verified reviews from buyers in Canada for each one.

We left out 10 other vacuums. Some had too many bad recent reviews from Canada, like the Shark Vertex Pro. Some got a burst of 5-star reviews right after launch. Others had no proper Amazon.ca offer, or lost to a pick at the same price.

Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty IA3243

$549.99
Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty IA3243

This is the stick vac that asks the least of you. The dock empties the bin after every clean and holds up to 45 days of debris. PowerDetect raises suction when it finds dirt or carpet, so you never reach for a mode button. The brushroll cleans itself of hair. The open question is reliability, since this 2026 model has only 9 Canadian reviews.

#2 Longest Runtime

Tineco Pure ONE S50 Pro

$499.00
Tineco Pure ONE S50 Pro

The S50 Pro is the one to buy for a big house. Tineco quotes 65 minutes with the floor brush running, while most brands quote a figure with no brush at all. That makes it the longest real runtime here. Its 17 recent Canadian reviews include no 1-2 star ratings. Two things hold it back: Tineco's own store sells it, and the listing gives two suction figures.

  • +6-stage sealed filtration (99.99% at 0.3 microns)
  • +180-degree foldable tube reaches under furniture
  • +No 1-2 star reviews among its 17 recent Canadian verified reviews

Cons

  • -Sold by the Tineco brand store, not Amazon.ca
  • -Listing contradicts itself on suction (200AW in the title, 150AW in the bullets)
  • -Small review base: 17 Canadian reviews, shared with the cheaper S50

#3 Best for Pets

BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush 4196B

$399.97
BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush 4196B

This is the strongest floor cleaner under $400. Its head runs two brushrolls. One digs pet hair and grit out of carpet, and the other sweeps fine dust and kibble off hard floors. AutoAdapt adds up to 75% more suction when it detects dirt. Owners' main complaint is weight: it is top-heavy and a chore to carry up stairs. Note: The PowerClean DualBrush 4196B is a dry cordless stick vacuum for pet hair and surface sweeping; it is not a wet carpet washer or shampooer like the corded BISSELL PowerClean TurboBrush 3946C.

coovy SU7 Ultra

coovy SU7 Ultra

The SU7 Ultra packs a $300 feature list into a $152.99 stick. It has the biggest bin here and a battery you can swap. Its Auto mode turns up the power on carpet. Do not set its 55 kPa claim against other brands, since each one measures suction its own way. The risk is how long it lasts. Owners in Canada report the battery and bin latch failing after six to eight months.

Dyson V15 Detect Plus

Levoit LVAC-200

Levoit LVAC-200

Canadian owners like this Levoit more than almost anything else here. Its last 60 reviews from Canada average 4.35 stars. It lies flat to reach under beds, stands on its own and empties with one click. Levoit also gives an honest runtime: 30 minutes with the floor head, enough for about 1,184 sq ft. Runtime Claims Are Not What You Get

Every listing here quotes a runtime. Most of those numbers are not what you will see on a whole-home clean.

Brands usually measure runtime on the lowest setting with a tool that has no motor. But on floors you use the motorized head, and it draws far more power. Shark goes one step further and measures at the hand vac alone. So the PowerPro Plus's 50 minutes are not 50 minutes of floor cleaning.

Only two listings here quote a figure with the floor head on:

  • Tineco S50 Pro — 65 minutes with the ZeroTangle brush, against 95 in Eco with a crevice tool.
  • Levoit LVAC-200 — 30 minutes with the vacuum head, against 50 with a tool.

Turbo is shorter again. The BISSELL DualBrush lists 13 minutes in Turbo, the Levoit 12 and the coovy 20 in Max. Treat that as your runtime on thick carpet.

Suction numbers are worse. Brands rate suction in air watts, kilopascals, motor watts or "percent more than a V8". None of these convert into each other. A 55 kPa budget vac is not stronger than a Dyson. The two numbers are just measured in different ways, so we compared suction claims only within one brand.

What to do instead. For an apartment, 30 to 40 minutes of real runtime is plenty. For a house over about 1,500 sq ft, buy the Tineco S50 Pro. Or pick a stick with a detachable battery, like the coovy SU7 Ultra or the Eureka, and add a spare. Run Eco or Auto for whole-home cleans and save Turbo for the mat by the door.

Or let a robot do the daily pass. A stick is best for quick jobs: crumbs under the table, stairs, the car, the sofa. A robot vacuum handles the daily floor run on a schedule, and many pet homes own both. If your floors are mostly hardwood or tile and you mop each week, look at a robot vacuum and mop combo instead.

What Canadian Owners Report After a Few Months

The star rating on an Amazon.ca listing mixes in reviews from the US and from sister models. So we read up to 60 of the latest verified reviews from Canada for each vacuum. The share of 1-2 star reviews ran from none on the Tineco S50 Pro to 25%. The Dyson V15 and Dreame Z20 sat at the top of that range.

The same four problems come up again and again.

Batteries that fade or die. This was the top complaint for every brand. Owners describe packs failing anywhere from 2 to 14 months in. On the coovy SU7 Ultra it shows up at six to eight months, and on the Dreame Z20 within four. A detachable battery, as on the coovy and Eureka, turns that from a dead vacuum into a part you swap. Check that a spare for your model is sold on Amazon.ca before you buy.

Cold garages. Many Canadians keep the vacuum in a garage or mudroom. Store a cordless one indoors at room temperature over the winter, because cold is hard on lithium-ion cells. Avoid Turbo for whole-home cleans, too, since it drains the pack fastest.

Used units sold as new. This one clusters at the top of the price range. Several Canadian buyers of the Dyson V15 and V11 got units that had been opened or used, or that carried a US serial number. Two Tineco A30S buyers reported the same. Inspect a new vacuum the day it arrives, register the warranty and keep the box until the return window closes.

Weak on carpet. Lighter, cheaper sticks draw this complaint. Owners of the Levoit and Tineco A30S say they struggle on deep carpet. Some Shark PowerPro Plus owners say it is weak on pet litter. If your home is mostly wall-to-wall carpet, shortlist the BISSELL DualBrush, the Shark PowerDetect Speed or a Dyson.

Never vacuum wet spills or winter slush. Sucking up water, melting snow, or pet urine ruins a cordless stick motor. For wet messes on rugs and sofas, use a portable carpet cleaner. For full rooms of stained carpet, see our upright carpet cleaners guide.

Airborne dust versus floor dirt. A stick vacuum pulls heavy dirt from floors. But shaking rugs and emptying dust bins stirs fine dander back into the room. To capture floating pet hair and winter dust before it settles, pair your vacuum with one of our best air purifiers.

When a battery is done, keep it out of the garbage. Call2Recycle runs more than 15,000 drop-off sites. It says over 90% of people in Canada live within 15 km of one. Before you buy, also search Health Canada's recalls and safety alerts for your model name. It takes a minute.

How We Research & Rank

CriterionWeightBased On
Cleaning Performance25%Floor head first: a self-cleaning or anti-tangle roll beats a plain one, and two rolls score extra. Auto dirt sensing and sealed filtration add points. Suction claims are compared only within one brand.
Battery & Runtime20%The listed runtime with the motorized floor head counts most. Figures measured with a tool or at the hand vac count for less. A detachable battery adds points.
Ease of Use & Versatility15%A self-empty dock is the biggest convenience. Then listed weight, self-standing storage, a lay-flat wand, lights, a screen and useful tools in the box.
Value & Canadian Support15%Features per dollar at the Amazon.ca price. Amazon.ca as seller beats a brand store shipped by Amazon, which beats a brand store alone. Warranty terms on the listing count too.
Owner Satisfaction25%Up to 60 recent verified reviews from Canadian buyers. We look at the average stars, the share of 1-2 star reviews and repeated faults like early battery death.

Scores are out of 10. Vacuums with few Canadian reviews are pulled toward the field average. Where a listing pools reviews with sibling models or other countries, we score only the recent Canadian ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty (IA3243), at $549.99 from Amazon.ca. Its dock empties the vacuum after every clean and holds up to 45 days of debris. PowerDetect boosts suction when it senses dirt or carpet, and the brushroll cleans itself of hair. It scored 9.6 for ease of use, the top mark here. The risk is a short record, with 9 Canadian reviews so far.

The coovy SU7 Ultra, at $152.99. It has the largest bin on this page at 1.7 L, a detachable battery and up to 80 minutes in Eco. Its Auto mode boosts suction on carpet, and it has sealed HEPA filtration. It scored 9.5 for value. The catch is lifespan: Canadian owners report batteries and latches failing after six to eight months.

The BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush 4196B, at $399.97 from Amazon.ca. Its head runs two brushrolls, one for carpet and one for fine dust and kibble on hard floors. The FurGuard roll cleans itself so hair does not wrap. AutoAdapt adds up to 75% suction on dirty patches. Only 13% of its 31 recent Canadian reviews are 1-2 stars.

Only if cleaning power is all you care about. The Dyson V15 Detect Plus cleans best here, with two floor heads and a dust sensor. But at $999.99, 25% of its recent Canadian reviews are 1-2 stars. Most cite used units or faults after the warranty ends. The Shark PowerDetect Speed Plus Clean & Empty senses dirt and empties itself for $549.99.

Not as long as most buyers expect. In the Canadian reviews we analyzed, early battery failure was the most common complaint for every brand, at 2 to 14 months. So a detachable battery matters. On this page, the coovy SU7 Ultra and Eureka ReactiClean have one. Store the vacuum indoors in winter and save Turbo for small jobs.

It means Shark timed the battery on the handheld part alone, with no floor head. The Shark PowerPro Plus IZ377H lists 50 minutes this way. With the powered floor head running, expect a lot less. Only the Tineco S50 Pro (65 minutes) and Levoit LVAC-200 (30 minutes) give a runtime with the floor head on.

In an apartment or a home with mostly hard floors, yes. For a large carpeted home, the Tineco S50 Pro is the one to look at. It quotes 65 minutes with the floor brush running, the longest with-head runtime on this page. Deep-pile carpet drains any battery faster, so plan for less than that on a whole-house clean.

If anyone at home has allergies or asthma, look for sealed filtration, not just a HEPA filter. Sealing stops dust from leaking around the filter. On this page, the Dyson V15 and V11, the coovy SU7 Ultra and the Eureka's H13 system are sealed. The Levoit uses a foam filter, which is fine for general cleaning.

Buy a stick if you want to clean stairs, the car, sofas and spills as they happen. A robot runs the daily floor pass on its own, but cannot do stairs or upholstery. Many pet homes own both. Our best robot vacuums in Canada page ranks 7 robots from $179.98.

The Shark Vertex Pro sells thousands a month. But 40% of its latest Canadian verified reviews are 1-2 stars, and most say the fold hinge broke. We also left out new budget listings that got hundreds of 5-star reviews in their first weeks. Products with no proper Amazon.ca offer were cut too.
